Steve Howell, MA, LCPC is a licensed clinical professional counselor who received his Master’s degree in counseling psychology from Adler School of Professional Counseling (now named Adler University) in Chicago (2013). He completed his internship hours, and was later hired, at DuPage County Psychological Services. He gained valuable experience there in treating men in a Group Therapy format for substance use problems and those charged with domestic violence.
The next phase of his career was in transitioning to Stenzel Clinical Services, a local private practice. There he worked with not only men but started treating women and couples as well. During this time, his interest in psychoanalytic concepts and theories led him to participate in the Fellowship Program at the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis for two years in a row.
Steve obtained additional training and, as well as, a certificate in Mindfulness to assist clients in obtaining a degree of immediate relief from symptoms of anxiety, depression & obsessive and/or compulsive tendencies. He transitioned to Alcorn & Allison in April of 2018 and is currently being mentored in Self Psychology and Internal Family Systems to further deepen and sharpen his clinical skills.
During Steve’s free time you may see him at a yoga class trying to learn new poses and just generally enjoying being on his mat. He has also taken up an interest in, and studies, the creative process of method acting. Who knows, he may show up in some community theatre productions in the not so near future… Time will tell.
